Networking...

In addition to our more interactive tools we've also created a few options for you to network with us if that's your particular scene.
We originally focussed upon three "social networking" sites, MySpace, SiteSpaces, and NewsVine, but we've since added other networking facilities (as you'll see from the list below) and of course we've included the hugely popular photo-sharing site Flickr. (In fact, many of our own photos are available to share or link to at our Flickr page!)
If you too have profiles at any of these sites why not pay us a visit and join our growing list of friends/contacts?

TawNews

Our eGroup, hosted by Yahoo!, shares the same name (TawNews) as our on-site interactive section.

Originally intended as an announcement list for updates to Tilting at Windmills, plus news and opinion on global, political, social and environmental issues with particular emphasis on promoting alternative news sources, its actual usage evolved into a sort of caché for articles from around the web that might otherwise have a transitory existence or for copyright reasons could not be reproduced elsewhere.

Btw, "TAW" = "Tilting at Windmills"!

taw truthers...

What Holes? Taw Truthers or the "Truthers Contact List" is our very own networking service specifically for UK-based "9/11 Truth" campaigners and is a joint project of Tilting at Windmills and Ricky. Originally discussed on the SiteSpaces social networking site it was agreed to try to set up some sort of central list for "9/11 Truthers" resident in the UK so that those in proximity could contact each other to co-ordinate/organise joint efforts to "spread the word" etc.

Thus all 9/11 Truthers in the UK are invited to join the list. All that's needed is your name (or nickname if you prefer), an email address, and your county of residence, county being the principal listing criterion.
There's also an option to enter a website URL (so if you have a MySpace or SiteSpaces page you can use that as your contact point).

With this information other Truthers can easily locate contacts in the same or adjoining counties.

And if your contact details should change after you've added yourself to the list you can easily amend them using our dedicated update form.

So if you're a "Truther" living in the UK, join now!

Connecting the Dots

9/11 specific...

For those of our readers who have a particular interest in the events of 9/11 we have a dedicated page at MySpace ("Connecting the Dots") focussing on rational examinations of the evidence and testimonies relating to the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, devoid of the more extreme "explanations" touted by some "conspiracy theorists".

You can find it at:
www.myspace.com/connectuk

Despite all our reservations about social networking sites in general and MySpace in particular we've bitten the bullet and created our own MySpace page!
So if you've got a MySpace page visit us there and add us to your Friends.
You'll find us at:
www.myspace.com/tawnews.
(Just be cautious about the links you click on some other folks' pages there!)

sitespaces...

SiteSpaces Another social networking site, similar to MySpace but with a somewhat smaller user-base. Our page here was originally intended as an alternative or backup for our MySpace page as some users were concerned about the security and freedom of expression there.
However, for whatever reason the facilities at MySpace (since the company's purchase by Rupert Murdoch) have become increasingly problematic to use and consequently we've begun to elevate SiteSpaces as our principal networking tool, despite its smaller user-base.

Our page is here.

newsvine...

Tilting at Windmills @ NewsVine From the site...

Seattle-based Newsvine, Inc. was launched in March 2006 by a small team of like-minded colleagues with one purpose: to build a perfectly different, perfectly efficient way to read, write, and interact with the news.
Founded by veterans of Disney, ESPN, and other media organizations, the mission of Newsvine is to bring together big and little media in a way which respects established journalism and empowers the individual at the same time.
At Newsvine, you can read stories from established media organizations like the Associated Press, ESPN, and New Scientist as well as individual contributors from all around the world. Placement of stories is determined by a multitude of factors including freshness, popularity, and reputation. Contribution is open to all, and editorial judgement is in the hands of the community.

From the site...

Flickr - almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world - has two main goals:
  • We want to help people make their photos available to the people who matter to them.
Maybe they want to keep a blog of moments captured on their cameraphone, or maybe they want to show off their best pictures to the whole world in a bid for web celebrity. Or maybe they want to securely and privately share photos of their kids with their family across the country. Flickr makes all these things possible and more!
  • We want to enable new ways of organizing photos.
In Flickr, you can give your friends, family, and other contacts permission to organize your photos - not just to add comments, but also notes and tags. People like to ooh and ahh, laugh and cry, make wisecracks when sharing photos. Why not give them the ability to do this when they look at them over the internet? And as all this info accretes around the photos as metadata, you can find them so much easier later on, since all this info is also searchable.
