Get involved...
In addition to the static pages and our substantial dynamic content
(principally the "Incoming..." section of the side menu, comprising
RSS
feeds from some of the leading alternative OpEd and News sites) Tilting
at Windmills, being part of the growing movement advocating citizen
journalism, also offers a selection of features for you to
publish your own material.
Rather than integrating the whole range into a single CMS (Content Management System) as seems to be the current trend with many other sites, we've adopted the approach of creating stand-alone tools for specific purposes such that you can choose the medium that suits your particular requirements and level of expertise best.
This is our "flagship feature", so to speak. Here you can publish your
own original articles, analyses, opinion, even (and especially!) news
reporting. Check it out.
This is in fact a complete CMS (Content Management System) in its
own right, but at the moment we've only "switched on" those features
that facilitate the publishing of text-based content. However, additional
features can be integrated if demand justifies it.
The most recent addition to our interactive tools, TaW Forums is a
selection of Message Boards relevant to the various campaigns, issues
and projects with which we become involved. At the moment (given that
its only recently been launched) there's only the one "special-interest"
board there (9/11 Truthers) - and of course the General one - but
its intended that each issue-related board should be private to its
own special-interest membergroup.
You can visit it (and join) at tawforums.org.uk
And we're always open to suggestions for the creation of additional special-interest boards!
We've set up our own eGroup hosted by Yahoo. At its most basic level
this is the site mailing list. Subscribe and you'll receive announcements
of new content etc.
However, you can also post your own messages to the list, making it
the ideal medium for sharing news items etc that you discover at other
places on the web.
Subscribe simply by sending a blank email to:
tawnews-subscribe(at)yahoogroups.com
or visit the Group site at groups.yahoo.com/group/tawnews.
If you're one of the vast number of people who don't accept the "official
version" of the events of 9/11, and if you live in the UK, then TaW
Truthers may be for you!
Essentially this is a contact list for UK-based "truthers" enabling
folk to find others living nearby so that info and ideas can be shared,
plans for "spreading the word" can be made, etc.
The list is constructed on a county basis so you can easily see what
other "Truthers" are living in your, or an adjoining, county. Simply
sign up here.
If you're a member of another Group or Campaign and all you want to
do is announce details (time, place, etc) of your upcoming events
you can post the info to our Events
Listing.
Register here to post events.
The TaW Blog
is where our editor posts his own thoughts (and frequently rants)
on topical items and pretty much anything else. You can add your own
relevant comments and opinion simply by registering.
In addition to the interactive tools listed on this page we've also
created a few options for you to network with us if that's your particular
scene.
If you too have profiles at any of our networking sites
why not pay us a visit and join our growing list of friends/contacts?
The Web's all about information and information-sharing, so fully embrace
the Web by sharing your site content - without losing credits!
Our priority here at Tilting at Windmills is not to keep visitors
onsite particularly, but to make available a wide spectrum of alternative
news, comment and opinion. Therefore we also act as a mini-portal
to other Alternative News and OpEd sites by using RSS technology to
embed live feeds.
Each guest site has its own dedicated page accessed through our main
sidebar menu (check out the "Incoming..." section). So if your site
has content that you think would interest our visitors and you maintain
an RSS feed please get in touch.
This is a handy little option (basically a simple Guest Book feature)
enabling you to send us brief feedback about the site... overall impression,
suggestions, things not working as they should, broken links etc.
We also use it to publish site update details. Anyone can post here
- no registration's required!
Check it out.
And to come...
We're also working on offering a facility to upload and share photos... somewhen in the future.
