Disarm DSEi...
DSEi (Defence
Systems & Equipment International Exhibition)
claims to be "the world’s largest fully integrated international defence
exhibition bringing together senior international visitors and military
influencers in an optimal business environment".
It proudly asserts...
• "DSEi provides the opportunity for companies to display their full capability at a single exhibition."
• "DSEi meets the needs of the international defence industry by providing a networking opportunity to share ideas, discuss industry developments, do business and network for future growth."
• "DSEi's truly comprehensive scale makes attendance a must for everyone in the defence and military aerospace community. Visitors come from UK and all over the world to experience first-hand the latest land, air and sea capabilities of more than 1,200 companies from 36 countries over four packed business days."
In other words, it brings together under one roof the largest collection of dealers in death that you could ever wish to meet.
The Exhibitors' List for the 2007 Exhibition is a veritable Who's Who of the leaders of the War Industry. These war profiteers (for, and let's make no bones about it, that's what they are) are the only guys who really stand to gain from all the wars, all the conflicts, all the petty dictators that repress populations by force of arms.

When next you hear of more Israeli atrocities against innocent Palestinians; of another Iraqi child maimed for life in America's determination to force "democracy" on the world; of another populist uprising brutally suppressed by yet another tyrannical regime - just spare a thought for these guys, gleefully chuckling all the way to the Bank.
For years now this Exhibition has been hosted in London, and has attracted the attention of arms trade protesters from all over the country, under the banner of "Disarm DSEi".
Whilst the Death Merchants receive protection from Britain's Police (you know, the guys that express so much concern about "gun crime") brave protesters have resolutely sought to draw attention to this obscene trade and its showpiece that is this Exhibition.
The hypocrisy of the attendees who seek to bestow a patina of "respectability" under the guise of "commerce" on a trade that essentially exchanges human lives for nothing more than cash in the Bank needs to be exposed for what it truly is; together with the hypocrisy of all the politicians, legislators and "law-enforcers" who claim to be working toward a peaceful and caring society.
If the same ingenuity that went into creating ever more sophisticated
ways of erasing human life were instead directed toward alleviating
suffering and poverty many of the causes of human travail would be
removed in one fell swoop - but so too, let's not forget, would the
wealth of those who truly control our destiny.
And it is of course those whom our politicians and "law-enforcers"
really serve.
About Disarm DSEi...
Against the War — Against the Arms Trade
"Stop
the War" (whichever war) is useless sloganeering unless it
is accompanied by a commitment to stopping the global arms trade.
War will never stop whilst weapon sales are a booming capitalist business
worth in the region of $40 billion a year.
In 2005, DSEi hosted 1,100 companies, 70 official military delegations and 20,000 visitors from across the globe. Many of the countries invited were at war, some with each other. Many were dictatorships with appalling human rights records. Many had huge national debts with populations in severe states of poverty and starvation.
There are no borders, no limitations and certainly no morals when it comes to arms trading. Whilst countries such as the US and UK pretend to restrict the sale of arms, there are enough loopholes to enable dealers to trade whatever they like, to whoever they like.
